Review of Coupling Methods of Compressed Air Energy Storage Systems and Renewable Energy Resources

With the strong advancement of global carbon reduction strategy and rapid development renewable energy, compressed air energy storage (CAES) technology has received more attention for its key role in large-scale access. This paper summarizes coupling systems CAES wind, solar, biomass energies from perspective system topology, points out advantages limitations each system. It is shown that wind mainly combined series parallel, sometimes part power can be converted into thermal when coupled to CAES. The between solar heat an important form Solar-heat-coupled uses expander inlet air. forms are based on various forms, heating sequences, reheating, bottom cycle, other factors. combination generally gasification generation technology. In future, a wind–solar–CAES multiple expected become promising utilization this integrated great potential as configuration, but some technical challenges.
